Something we LOVE to do as a family is bake sweet treats together in the kitchen. When I say we, I mean Jeff & Emma bake together while I sit at the island and provide moral support. ;) Jeff’s Snickerdoodle Cookie recipe is one of our all-time favorites: the cookies are moist, sweet and the perfect easy dessert to whip up for friends and family!
Cookie recipes are our go-to for any event because they are super easy to make and we always have the majority of the ingredients in the pantry ready to go! As many of you know, there are so many recipes that we have been meaning to add to the blog forever – this is one of those.
One tool that Jeff always uses to bake cookies with is our KitchenAid Mixer. It’s by far the easiest way to mix ingredients together without making a mess or using all your muscles trying to make the perfect consistency. Right now Ebay is having a huge sale on KitchenAid mixers, both new and refurbished models up to 50% off, plus free shipping. Ebay has SO many color options, sizes, and models available & the selection is great! Ebay is one of my favorite retailers, they make it so easy to shop and the reviews help guide you to finding the best items without a hassle! They have a money back guarantee & refurbished units are factory tested by the manufacturer. Click here to shop the KitchenAid mixer sale.

Jeff’s Snickerdoodle Cookie Recipe
Jeff’s recipe is simple and delicious! We personally love our cookies a bit underbaked – the chewier the better! If you like your cookies more crunchy, just bake them for a bit longer to your style (and depending on your oven.)
- 1 Cup Unsalted Butter
- 2/3 Cup Granulated Sugar
- 2/3 Cup Light Brown Sugar (Packed)
- 2 Large Eggs 1 Large Egg + 1 Egg Yolk (throw out rest of second egg)
- 2 Tsp Vanilla Extract
- 2 3/4 Cup All-Purpose Flour
- 2 Tsp Cream of Tartar
- 1/2 Tsp Salt Omit if you use salted butter
- 1 Tsp Baking Soda
- 1 Tsp Cinnamon
- 1/3 Cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Cinnamon
Place butter, sugar and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl and beat until creamy. Add egg, egg yolk & vanilla and mix until thoroughly combined.
In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cream of tartar, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon until blended. Add dry mixture into wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
Cover bowl and place into refrigerator for 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Make sweet coating by combining sugar and cinnamon into a small bowl.
Remove dough from refrigerator and form into about 20-22 rounds. Roll into sweet coating until completely covered and place on a parchment lined baking sheet.
Bake for about 11-12 minutes, remove and let cool on a baking sheet for 2 minutes, then move to cooling rack.
We like them slightly undercooked, so depending on how you like them and the accuracy of your oven, feel free to bake them a minute more or less. I normally use 2 baking sheets, so that when the first batch comes out I am ready to add the next batch into the oven. Enjoy!
