Hi everyone! So excited to start sharing the holiday decor around my home for this season.. things are coming together quickly & I’m planning to share every detail here on the blog.
It’s that time of year again when all things cozy start creeping into my family room which is our main living space. I always LOVE to add as many cozy throws, pillows and soft decor as possible because I host many gatherings in this space and so many of my friends & family love to be cozy. Get togethers include my weekly Bachelor/Bachelorette nights, neighbors dropping by and my family who stays for weekends at a time.
My holiday mantel isn’t finished yet – I’ll be sharing that in a post here soon!
So let’s dive right in!
The Christmas Tree
I’ve shared this tree a few different times in Instagram stories but now I finally get to show you the big reveal! My tree is from Balsam Hill (linked here) and I love the way it turned out! The lighting is really warm and beautiful – and it looks so life-like. I have to warn you though.. the flocking is so realistic that it sheds when you first set it up/take it down, but that doesn’t bother me. The tree stand was from Balsam Hill last year and they unfortunately aren’t selling it this year.
This year I decided to go with a green, gold and white snowy theme. I love a neutral look in this calming space and fell in love with some of the natural elements that I found. Many of you have asked me where I found he beautiful gold fabric scrolled ribbon that I have tucked within my tree… I found it at Balsam Hill (click here) and it looks as beautiful in person as it does on the tree. It’s pricy, but I didn’t mind because I only planned to use 1 roll.
I used lots of different kinds of “greenery picks” and faux flower stems this year which is new for me! I found all of the filler on the trees at Hobby Lobby, Michaels and Tuesday Morning. I’m so obsessed with how beautiful they look that I am sure I will use them in future trees. Neutral stems and beautiful greenery picks can mix with any color scheme. I always try to look for sales if possible which makes it easier to change my look each year.
As to the ornaments on the tree, I’ve collected many over the years from a variety of places such as – Pottery Barn, Homegoods, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Ballard Designs, World Market, Frontgate, Neimans, and more! I’m always on the hunt for beautiful ornaments.
The striking soft furry white snowball shaped ornaments are from Pottery Barn (linked here) and the large round beautiful green and copper beaded ornaments are from Hobby Lobby. I loved these so much, I purchased all that my local store carried and then ordered more online. I plan to use these on my mantel and banister as well.
Under The Tree Decor
Along with presents, I always like to add a few layers of potted plants, flowers, and holiday decor to add interest underneath the tree. I used white boxes & Ribbon I found at at The Container Store for the ‘presents’. Both are linked below.
I’ve been loving Pottery Barn’s neutral & natural holiday decor this year. I adorned the bottom of the tree with delicate faux white orchids & faux white poinsettias. I placed them inside different glass & gold planters/candle votives. They have adorable mini trees this year and I grabbed as many as I could to place around the house! (all are linked below)
Cozy Pillows & Throws
Faux fur pillows and throws are a key element to any cozy family room. I carried the same color scheme from the tree throughout the rest of the room. I love decorating with Pottery Barn’s cozy home decor , I basically own the whole line! The neutral tones allow you to use them year after year. Versatility is key! All Throws are 30% off today making it easy to add to your cozy collection. I’m linking all of my Cozy Christmas Decor below.
The new green & gold velvet pillows I scattered throughout the room are some of my new favorites! They are from Lo Home . My girlfriend Loren Haskell owns this shop and creates her own line of pillows and jars (including her new Christmas line of jars shown on the coffee table), all of which I’m obsessed with! She’s so talented! Click here for the green velvet pillows and here for the gold greek key pillows. They are gorgeous! Use code KRISTY15 for 15% off your purchase.
