Jeff’s Lemon Drop Recipe

Warm summer nights are perfect for cold drinks and fun with friends. For years, our favorite go-to drink when we’re craving something light and refreshing has been Jeff’s Lemon Drop Recipe. We feel like it’s the perfect Summer drink… maybe even the perfect year-round drink. ;)

Jeff makes his lemon drops with just the right balance of tartness and sweetness to quench your thirst and I’m always telling him they make you feel like you’re drinking something special because they’re that good!

Over the past few years, Jeff has made slight changes to the ingredient list in a quest for perfection. One thing he learned was that it’s more difficult than you think to get consistent favor using fresh lemons. So… he set out to try just about every brand and version of lemon juice both fresh and frozen. Below is the updated recipe with the specific brand of ingredients Jeff now uses for Lemon Drop Perfection!

I never seem to taste the alcohol in this drink because it’s so smooth and the sugar around the rim gives it a desert like feel. If you haven’t tried a Lemon Drop before, you’re in for a real treat. I’m including the recipe below. It’s really easy to make and will become hand’s down one of the most asked for drinks by our friends. Hope you enjoy! Let me know in the comments below if you end up making them and what you think, especially now that Jeff includes the specific brands he uses.

Perfect Lemon Drop Martini

Servings: 1
Author: Kristy
Ingredients
  • 2 Oz Absolut Citron Vodka
  • 1/2 Oz DeKuyper Triple Sec
  • 1 Oz Stirrings Simple Syrup – Other brands can be substituted if they use Cane sugar!
  • 1 Oz 'RealLemon' brand Lemon Juice –
  • 1 Lemon Wedge for Garnish – And to wet the rim of the glass
  • 2 Tbsp Granulated Sugar – To sugar the rim of the glass
  • Ice
Instructions
  1. We use ‘Martini’ style glasses for our Lemon drops, but any glass will work just fine!

  2. On a plate, pour sugar in a circle about the width of the glass you will use.  Use the lemon wedge to wet the rim of the glass on both the inside and outside of the rim – About 1/8in wide.  Turn the glass upside down and place the rim into the sugar and move around to evenly coat.

  3. Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice and add vodka, triple sec, lemon juice and simple syrup. Shake well and pour into the sugar lined glass.

Hint: Adding the vodka first will help keep the ice from sticking together in the shaker…

  4. Add a lemon wedge for garnish and enjoy!
