Maintaining Healthy Hair after 40: Hair Biology Review

Hair Biology Review - Do these products really work for women who are 45+? A complete review on their Soft + Hydrated line.

This post is sponsored by Hair Biology – all opinions are my own.

Oh, 40. The age when everything begins to change. Even the hair that I’ve always been able to count on began to drastically change once I hit 40. My hair has always been soft, moist & curly throughout my life but several years ago I found my hair starting to slowly change over time. I began to notice my hair feeling more drier, flatter and coarse. So odd, I never expected that. I’ve found after a little research that it’s something that many women go through as they age unfortunately. For the past few years I’ve been struggling to find a shampoo & conditioner that I really loved and that worked well on my changing hair so you can imagine my excitement when I heard about Hair Biology.

About Hair Biology

Hair Biology is a haircare brand that launched this year and was created specifically for aging hair (45+) – just like mine! When they reached out to see if I would be willing to try their Soft & Hydrated Collection sold exclusively at Target – I jumped at the chance! I was so excited to see if this line would work for me and if so, then I could share my thoughts with all of you.

Hair Biology is all about celebrating age – not resenting it. They’ve created products formulated specifically for women aged 45+ (like me!) and who may deal with a bit of change to their hair (greyness, dryness, thinning, and quality). There are several collections available to help combat different items on your list, such as thickening treatments, ‘silver line’ for grey or blonde hair, and volumizing treatments. So many options! Hair Biology’s goal is for women to feel Bolder not Older – which may be my new favorite saying..

I couldn’t wait to try the Soft & Hydrated collection which includes a moisturizing shampoo, conditioner, argan oil taming serum & deep hydration mask. This line is infused with biotin, which helps boost the body’s keratin levels. (Over time, you lose the keratin in your hair – who knew?) All Hair Biology formulas are free of parabens and dyes which is extremely important to me. The serum which contains plenty of argan oil is packed with antioxidants, And everything is safe for color treated hair which I was thrilled about!

BEFORE

Before I started using Hair Biology products, I noticed that my hair was pretty dry and brittle. As you can see in the above photo, I had a good amount of flyaways and dryness – especially on the top of my head. I found this to be extremely frustrating as I take photos and videos of myself every day for work.. I hated feeling like my hair wasn’t living up to my normal standards. As you can see in the image below my hair is looking WAY healthier and I really do find it’s a result of all the new products I’ve been using! I’ve been washing my hair 2-3x per week using the Moisturizing Shampoo & Conditioner then utilizing the deep hydration mask 1x per week while still in the shower – I only use a little less than a quarter sized amount. Once out of the shower I add the argan oil taming serum while my hair is still damp then blow-dry! To help tame my hair even more I sometimes add a little more of the argan oil after blow drying and before styling. It makes my hair feel so silky and soft.

Another important part that I love about this collection: the smell. Oh my goodness, these products smell absolutely AMAZING. The fragrance reminds me a little of coconuts and while it’s sweet, it’s not overwhelming in the slightest. Everything smells so incredible that even Jeff comments on it. That’s a first! ;)

Something else that I love about this collection is the price point. It’s extremely affordable at just $10 on average per product. So great! I love that it’s also sold at Target which is super convenient. You have the option of picking it up in person or ordering it online. Click here to see all of Target’s offerings.

Overall Thoughts

Overall, I am loving the Hair Biology Soft & Hydrated line! Everything that I’ve tried has become a new favorite.. from the moisturizing shampoo & conditioner, deep hydration mask, to the argan oil taming serum. This line is perfect for those who are like me: 45+ and looking to spruce up their hair without blowing their budget!

Once again, this line is sold exclusively at Target.
