Getting Ready for Guests in our New Home

Guest Room Ready Snack basket

I’m so excited because Emma’s coming to Santa Barbara to see the house in just a few days! It’s the first time she’s seen it and we can’t wait to give her the grand tour :) Now that we have moved out of the town she grew up in it’s so important that she feels at home here. I ordered items from Walmart+ to get her room ready, fridge stocked with her favorites and fun entertaining items for dinner as a family! Obviously things have been hectic over here so being able to order everything from one place and pick it up is so convenient. Free same-day delivery from store saves so much time and everything is the same prices as on shelf. Getting ready for guests can be so fun.

Guest Room Ready

Only two weeks in our new house and we already have a visitor! Now that we are in Santa Barbara I have a good feeling we will have more company than ever ;) I haven’t had much time to shop around while we’ve been moving in, luckily I was able to find some cute decor pieces from Walmart+.

I ordered this adorable rug from Walmart. I love the two tone jute, it ties the room together so well.

I love to add faux flowers around the house; Jeff is sensitive to scents so this is a great way to still enjoy the beauty. Because of allergies and scent sensitivity I often go with faux flowers in my guest room, but to offer options I’ll add a covered candle. In a smaller room like a guest bathroom just taking the top off of the candle can fill the space with scent. I picked up a candle for Emma’s, it’s her favorite scent, coconut!

Stocking up on Favorites

When Emma was coming over to my house for work on the weekdays we were sure to have a few things in the fridge for her to snack on that I know she loves and fit her health goals. This is a thoughtful and inexpensive way to get ready for guests that is always so appreciated. I’m ordering all of her favorites from Walmart+ per usual. They carry all our favorite food brands and always have delicious fresh produce options. They also offer free same day delivery from your store ($35 order minimum, restrictions apply.) I made sure to grab these chocolate rice cakes and lots of fresh fruit because it is so tasty this time of year.

Entertaining Must Haves

It’s so funny to think of entertaining my daughter but when Emma moved out for college I realized I loved having dinners with the whole family so it’s so important to me to make these visits special and pull out all the stops!Maybe that will convince her to visit more often ;) Here are a few of my picks.

I have saved so much time using Walmart+ to get everything I need quickly, time I can spend enjoying the company of my family during visits like this. I recommend giving it a try if you have a busy lifestyle too.

What do you think?

I’m so thrilled I was able to pull this off just two weeks after moving in. I know Emma would be happy sleeping on the couch but I really wanted her to feel welcome and really fall in love with this house as much we have. What do you think of the room? Do you have any tips on getting ready for guests? Let me know in the comments below.
