Decorating For Valentine’s Day: 3 Easy & Inexpensive Ways to Celebrate! (+ The Date Night Outfit)

Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day? Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holiday’s to dress the house up for.. It’s based on love and it allows my the opportunity to go crazy with one of my favorite colors in the world: blush. Another reason? Nobody expects you to go overboard with this tiny holiday so anything that you do makes you and your home look incredible! ;)

This year I decided to start a little early (V-Day is in 2 weeks) because I’m hosting a get together with my friends tonight. (We call it a Galentine’s Party… very low-key.. a lot of talking, munching, & romantic chick flicks!) While drumming up ways to add a little Valentine’s flair to my home I realized it really came down to just 3 easy and inexpensive ways. I’m sharing all with you today along with my new beautiful Valentine’s Day/Night outfit that I’m planning to wear with Jeff and friends on our special date.

Decorating For Valentine's Day

// Triple Candy Bowl Serving Dish (Mine is sold out..linked similar.) // Heart Cookies // “Love” Cookie (On Sale!) //

  1. Heart themed sweets. The healthy lifestyle may begin in January but Valentine’s Day is the one day you can enjoy sweets, guilt-free! I grabbed some of my go-to’s which include the classic SweetHeart candies (I found mine at Safeway – Brach’s tiny conversation hearts are the best), Jellybeans in a festive mix,  Jordan Almonds, Cherry Heart Gummies, and fun heart shaped sugar cookies with red & pink frosting. You can purchase the same cookies that I did: Smaller Heart Cookies – here, and the Big Heart Cookie that says “Love”,  here. I placed my sweet treats in festive bowls & trays to add to the theme.

2. Festive Florals. We all know that red, pink, and white reign supreme during the second month of the year. Personally, I love all flowers but even I tend to fall more in love with the traditional color trio combo even more during this month. While I tend to gravitate toward roses, I also like to include other flowers like the lily. Flowers are something that make me happy and I can’t imagine a Valentine’s Day without them. Winter months are made so much more bearable with flowers… don’t you think?  Click here to read more about how I brighten my home with flowers.

Valentine-Inspired Decor. It’s easy to find little trinkets to spice up the home for this popular holiday. While I chose a few things that are heart-related, you don’t have to be that holiday specific. Instead you can simply choose pink plates or red mugs – or even hand towels. Click here for the cute set that I recently found.
If you’re on a strict budget or you don’t want to spend much on this holiday in particular – Target has a dollar section, and your local grocery store will usually carry some fun Valentine’s Day theme items as well. I found a heart shaped ribbon wreath that I hung on my buffet/hutch as well as a cute balloon for under $6. So cute!

More Valentine’s Day Decor Pieces

Decorating For Valentine's Day

Decorating For Valentine's DayAnother festive piece that I recently found is my new Le Creuset Cast-Iron Heart Shaped Dutch Oven. Jeff loves this brand and we have several pieces – great for cooking & baking! We use them all the time as they are nonstick & everything cooks beautifully in them. The heart shape stopped me in my tracks and when I found out it’s a special piece in the collection for this holiday I knew I had to have it even more. Right now it’s currently on sale – (the pink is sold out unfortunately but they have a gorgeous blush/rose color along with multiple shades of red and a matte white. Click here to shop my new favorite piece. (almost 50% off!)

Decorating For Valentine's DayDecorating For Valentine's DayAnother easy & inexpensive way to celebrate the many different holidays is to introduce cute mugs & cups that provide festive designs or quotes. I found these simple yet adorable Heart Mugs & Espresso Cups.

Decorating For Valentine's Day Hanging special kitchen towels from your range or cooktop is just one more simple way to show  your love for a specific holiday. What I love most about the towels and mugs is that I will be able to use both year-round because of their simplicity and color. I never hesitate when finding items I can use a multitude of times. Click here to shop our cute new set of kitchen towels. I also snagged the mill pink mixing bowls on my counter for 20% off & they are perfect for the holiday baking that will be happening over the next couple weeks.

Date Night Outfit

Decorating For Valentine's Day |Decorating For Valentine's DayDecorating For Valentine's DayDecorating For Valentine's DayDecorating For Valentine's DayWe don’t always go out on the 14th, but no matter what… we love to celebrate. Getting dressed up and eating a wonderful meal, either by ourselves or with good friends always makes us happy.  (even after 29 years of marriage!) It’s important to celebrate one another every day, but especially on Valentine’s Day. Jeff always gets me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers, along with sweet cards, and if I’m really lucky – a gift of some sort! I love finding things for him that I know he will appreciate: a nice jacket, something computer related, or something that has to do with his favorite hobby: cooking!

My Dress

I never wear red. I’m not sure why, it just hasn’t been a color I have gravitated toward in regards to clothing… That all changed however once I found this flirty red dress this week. When I saw the price tag I fell in love with it even more! Click here to shop my new dress – but make sure to get is ASAP (only size small & medium are left – it runs large).

My Jewelry

My jewelry is from a Chicago artist, Pamela Cohen of Aviva Rose. Pamela designs beautiful and intricate pieces that I fell in love with the first minute I laid eyes on them. Her Honeycomb Pendant that I’m wearing in these photos is so unique and I love that the tone of the metal isn’t the typical “gold & silver”. The little diamonds also add a little bling to the piece. The Iridescent Double Wrap Magnetic Bracelet compliments my new necklace perfectly. I love the way it gleams in the light. It’s gorgeous and different.  Click here to shop Aviva Rose – Click for my necklace & bracelet. Use code “wicks10” at the checkout to get 10% off.

My Heels

I have never owned a pair of red heels before – and now I’m left wondering why?! Especially when it comes to this gorgeous pair of red mules. These are comfy yet elegant and they also come in silver and black leather. I really love the style in red because it pops. Click here to shop them.

Lips

My base is ‘Revlon’ Lipstick in “Sassy Mauve” – click here.  I’ve spiced it up on top by trying out Jouer’s new lip topper in their limited edition “Sweetheart” color. Click here to shop this gorgeous red/pink color.
