Jeff and I had the most amazing tour of the elusive Bellosguardo Mansion today. This home sits right above the beach we walk every day. It’s been kept empty of all visitors for 70 years yet maintained in pristine state. The owner never returned after 1953 and paid $40,000 a month to keep it in perfect condition. Once she passed away at 104 yrs of age the house became part of a foundation to promote the arts and to allow small docent led tours. (You can find all online)
There’s a book all about the copper baron, Clark, his family and their homes, ‘Empty Mansions’. I’ve just started it.. Fascinating! 👏🏼
I wish I could have taken some photos and video of the inside of the mansion but that’s prohibited right now. ❤️

Counters are in and we couldn’t be more excited! 😆🙌🏼 My sister and her husband have been waiting to remodel their 1940’s bungalow for 18 years and they are so ready..🥹❤️ They’ve raised their boys in this home and special side note..
A doctor in Sacramento was born and raised in this home and when Betsy and Jon moved in, he dropped by and told them that his daughter moved in years ago and raised her two boys here as well. He planted a ginkgo tree in the front yard 🌳 (which is still thriving btw) and put in a basketball net for his grandsons. When Betsy and Jon heard this story, they were so touched and felt honored to be able to live in this home full of family history and love. ❤️🏡
Jeff and I are so happy for them and love everything about this beautiful renovation. 👏🏼
