September Favorites & Life Updates

Oh September.. you’ve been a busy month. It feels like the month has flown by because of all the projects we’ve taken on.. and our daily routine has been a bit chaotic. Have you felt this way too? Please say yes so I don’t feel alone! ;)

If that’s not enough.. Fall has hit us in the face and I’m trying to decorate like a madwoman. I know it’s not normal to feel “behind” in Fall decorating when it’s only mid-September, but in blogger land we tend to tackle the seasons at a different time and pace than the average person. However, I live for being busy with this job. It’s a creative outlet for me with the constant recipes, decorating, sponsorship responsibilities, and e-mails. LOTS of e-mails. ;) I try to get back to everyone as soon as possible but it can be insanity when the inbox is full 24/7.

I’ve been feeling especially appreciative towards the people that surround me in my life: Jeff travels for work every so often but this next month he will be gone quite a bit. If there is a day or two that I haven’t storied as often as I usually do – it’s because I’m trying to enjoy the little moments with my hubby and family. I don’t know what it is about Fall.. but I always find that I get a little sentimental. My Dad passed away several years ago, next week.. and his birthday is the fourth of October so.. I just always take time to make family a priority during this time.

So today I thought.. what better time to share a few things that have made me happy this week. :) While all are different, everything coordinates and helps me pull my home together. Love that!!

Next up.. Farah Merhi, my friend who started Inspire Me! Home Decor on Instagram – one of the most successful home decor & design galleries with over 5 million followers. I had the pleasure of meeting Farah and hanging out with her for 3 days straight back in March at the Design Bloggers Conference. We were both speakers at the event, and bonded over multiple meals sharing secrets, tips, and our experiences in social media and in life. One thing that I really love to do regarding Fall and my home is to add more texture to each space. We spend most of our time relaxing in our family room (and Emma and I work in this space everyday!) so it was very important to me that it not only remain comfy, but cozy too.  I always look to Pottery Barn for seasonal goodies.. but especially during the fall and Christmas seasons. Their buyers are amazing! They are always spot on with exactly what is on trend. This year I included lots of velvet and fur.. some of the velvets include fringe and others have a beautiful Jacquard design gracing them. The fur I have chosen is ruched which adds even more texture and detail. Love the warm neutral color and each piece feels not only soft but also luxurious.

Last favorite of the week is my beautiful bright tulips from Stargazer Barn. I’m a part of the “Tulip of the Month Club” and these babies lit up my day when I received them on Wednesday. Many of you know the love I have for this Northern California grower.. Bill is the owner and we met at P. Allen Smith’s Moss Mountain Farm a couple years ago. Ever since then, I always find ways to incorporate his gorgeous flowers in my life.
