Hunting for Fall and Autumn Decor

Hunting for Fall and Autumn Decor | Kristy Wicks.

Hi everyone!

I’m so proud of myself.. This year I waited until AFTER labor day to officially begin looking for new fall and autumn decor. :) Before Instagram and my blogging days began, I used to wait until October 1st before adding anything fall related to my home. These last few years I have that once school begins and the temperatures drop.. I tend to jump into the decorating mode full steam.

Those who have been following me on IG for awhile now already know how much I love a cozy candlelit scene. I’m all about spending time at home with my family & friends during the fall/winter months… making everyone feel as warm, welcome, and comfortable as possible.

To help get my home Autumn ready this year, Emma and I spent the last couple of days shopping at some of our favorite stores to see what’s new. Every year at the beginning of September people begin sharing their last season’s fall looks on Instagram. While I find everything inspiring and beautiful I’m more interested in seeing what the stores are featuring and highlighting now. I’m always looking for that new home decor piece or two to help dress my home for the season.

This time we found SO much inspiration from a few of our favorite stores that we love to shop at. Luckily for us, we live near a great outdoor shopping mall that includes: Pottery Barn, Arhaus, Free People, Crate & Barrel and Anthropologie. All the stores were stocked to the brim with many of the visuals looking incredible.

Today I have included a few snapshots of some of our favorite fall vignettes from each of the stores, as well as a roundup of some of the new fall decor that we are loving,

First up.. Pottery Barn. One of the great things about this store is that they are always on the ball with getting their seasonal decor out early + they always have a huge mix between the hottest trends and classic staples. Whether you like to decorate simply for Fall or go all out.. there is something for everyone here.

SHOP SOME OF MY PB FALL FAVORITES

Pumpkins , Pumpkins, Pumpkins. Pottery Barn has an amazing variety of pumpkins/pumpkin items – whether you’re into glass, resin, or tin.. orange or neutral tones, even glitter covered.. you can’t beat their selection.

I don’t usually go crazy and buy every single piece of fall related dinnerware that I love. Sometimes a few statement seasonal pieces are enough to fill my for needs and add just the right amount of newness to my everyday table. Love the dessert plates shown above. Simple yet perfect for fall.

Other items that contribute to this special fall table is the iron flatware, natural woven placemats, wood bowls and galvanized bucket – filled to the brim with pumpkins. So sweet.

Next store we hit was Anthropologie. I’m so lucky that I happen to live near one of the biggest Anthropologie stores in the SF bay area with one of the largest home departments. My Anthropologie also has a great natural plant & stem section that I always end up purchasing something from. It’s my favorite go-to place for small live plants and dried stems for special occasions.

Hunting for Fall and Autumn Decor | Kristy Wicks. The  fall candles were my favorite of all the stores I went into today!

Delicious scents such as “Spiced Cider” & “Pumpkin Clove” inspired me as I looked at the gorgeous candle selections at Anthro. Not only are the vessels beautiful, but I loved the more unique designs of the larger candles this year. I bought a couple for my fall family room as well as a few for my outdoor spaces.

Next store: Crate & Barrel. Crate & Barrel tends to lean toward a cleaner more minimalist look and style, but when it comes to Autumn decor they still favor the classics.

I really love that Crate & Barrel added a neutral area without the reds, oranges, and yellows that you typically see. They also carried a ton of unique lanterns and vases and of course.. cozy throws and baskets.

I was blown away by the wide selection of wreaths and branches.. so many colors to choose from. My picture shows only a few of the varieties they carry online. I particularly loved the natural branches in my favorite mauve tones.

Next up: Free People! I know this isn’t a store known for home decor.. but I was so inspired by the autumn themed visuals in the store window when I was walking past. I had to share. Everywhere you looked in the store  there were metallic leaf garlands draping over us with vibrant colors such as rose gold, copper, silver, and charcoal. They dangled above our heads like leaves falling from the sky and I fell in love with the effect!

Last store on the list: Arhaus! I love visiting this store for it’s upstairs section. It’s the garden/outdoor area that I love the most… I just love to walk through for ideas half of the time. Their visual person must be busy 24/7.

Today was such a great day running around looking for fall inspiration. I know I’m feeling so much more excited after seeing some of my favorite stores full of autumn beauty. I hope that our findings will help inspire some of you with your homes! I love this long season that’s full of so much beauty, color and texture.

Now we would love to hear from you… What kind of Fall decor do you love? Are you into more of the classic/traditional colors and styles or are you more of a minimalist and modern? I’d love to know in the comments below!

  1. My daughter and I are heading out today to do some fall shopping! Thanks Kristy for giving us some ideas on where to look??

  2. Beautiful finds, Kristy – so much inspiration! I’m pretty classic in my decorating style and colors. I’m excited to share a new tablescape with my family this Thanksgiving that I put together! (Fall leaf table runner, deep orange fabric napkins and jeweled napkin rings – all against my solid white dishes). Happy Fall!

    1. I am too and I never really loved rust/copper before.. :) I think because I mix it with some of the rosy/mauve colors I love it more than when it stands alone. Courtney my gf – French Country Cottage always mixes the tones. She’s sooo good!
Hugs and thanks for commenting xx
