It’s a Giving Season ~ Homegoods Holiday Globe donates to St. Jude’s

This season I was asked by HomeGoods to help them put together a special photo showcasing one of their beautiful Holiday Snow Globes to help contribute to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
I am so honored to have been asked and I wanted this special photo to reflect the bright and beautiful colors of the season that are reflected in this very festive globe.
St. Jude’s is a place that has made it their mission to try and help children and families through some of the most difficult of times…
I love that giving spirit and I’ll do everything I can each Holiday Season to help and take part.

Had the most special visit with Jeff’s mom and her sweet husband, Ed. ❤️ Now that we live in Santa Barbara we’re just a short drive away.. how lucky are we?! 🥰 Thanks so much again Marge and Ed for entertaining us! We love you and can’t wait to start another puzzle with you again soon 👏🏻

Jeff made his 3 Bean Chicken Chili today and served it in a toasted French bread bowl! So good!! ❤️ If you’re looking for something really yummy to serve this winter or during the Super Bowl then you’ll have to give this a try. Filling and full of protein this meal has become our new favorite. 👏🏻😍
Recipe Below 💫
3 Bean Chicken Chili
2 cups roasted shredded chicken breast
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup carrot, chopped
1 cup onion, chopped
1 whole red bell pepper, chopped
1 clove of garlic, minced
2 cups chicken broth
1 28 ounce can diced tomatoes
1 tablespoon Flour
2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon ground cumin
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 - 16 ounce canned pinto beans, drained
1 - 16 ounce canned black beans, drained
1 - 16 ounce can cannelloni beans, drained
1 - 4 ounce can diced green chilies
1 ounce diced jalapeños
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
1. Shred previously roasted chicken breast and set aside. 
2. In a large dutch oven heat oil on medium heat then add carrots, onion, red pepper and garlic. Cook for 5 – 8 minutes to soften. 
3. Add chicken broth, tomatoes, flour, chili powder, cumin and garlic powder. Bring to a low boil for 10 minutes stirring often. Reduce heat to simmer. 
4. Add chicken, beans, green chilies, jalapeños then salt and pepper to taste. 
5. Simmer for about 30 minutes stirring occasionally, then serve with your favorite garnishes

Having the best time in DC and the cherry on top was getting a free upgrade to the John F Kennedy suite at the Willard Hotel❤️ 🙌🏼 The suite is a huge 1800 sq feet with a large oval sitting room, 2 bathrooms, a coffee room and views of the Washington monument. We were so excited and surprised that they gave it to us.. I guess it doesn’t hurt to ask for a room change. We had double beds and asked if we could switch to a king bed and this is what they gave us. 😍 Lesson of the day.. it never hurts to ask.
A few fun facts about the Willard Hotel - Abraham Lincoln stayed here for 10 days prior to his inauguration, in 1869 it was in the Willard lobby that Ulysses S Grant popularized the term lobbyist because he detested the people who hung out in the lobby of the hotel doing self promotion, VP Calvin Coolidge lived at the Willard Hotel for a few months after President Harding died so Harding’s wife would have time to make arrangements for herself.. As a result the flag was raised outside the hotel to signify he (as President) lived here. 💫

Cheesy Sausage & Beef Dip 🧀
1 pound spicy breakfast sausage
1/2 pound lean ground beef
One medium onion, diced
One green bell pepper, diced
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
2 pounds Velveeta cubed
8 ounces cream cheese cubed
One cup cheddar cheese shredded
20 ounces Rotel (2 10 oz cans)
Cook sausage, and ground beef in a large sauté pan.
Add onion, bell pepper, chili powder, garlic powder, and onion powder, then sauté until vegetables soften, about 6-8 mins. Salt and pepper to taste.
Pour meat and vegetable mixture into slow cooker pot, add cubed Velveeta, cubed cream cheese and rotelle, mix well. Top with cheddar cheese, cover and cook on High for 2 - 2.5 hours, stirring occasionally. Set cooker to warm or simmer mode until ready to serve. Stir occasionally to keep
Serve with your favorite chips & veggie slices and enjoy! 🧀
