A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I was going to take a drive up the coast to look for something special at a nearby Flea Market.
I found myself driving North to the Bernal Heights neighborhood in San Francisco to one of my favorite markets in the Bay area…
the Alemany Flea Market.
I figured if I’m going to be hitting a Flea Market it may as well be one full of the city sights and sounds. :)
There are always great items from the vintage dealers who show up each Sunday year round, rain or shine.
It’s one of my favorite markets and I almost always walk away with something unique and special!
I couldn’t believe my luck when I found this beautiful old vintage scale.
It is such a gorgeous piece and I’m thrilled to have something to place on my counter that is not only useful
but also provides a rustic glamorous feel to my kitchen with the black iron and brass.
I always wonder about the life each vintage piece has lived before I’ve found it.
What kind of house or business was it sitting in?
How many owners has this piece had and what kind of history has it been a part of…
What conversations or decisions have been made with it in the room?
I look at owning vintage pieces like I do a book that I’m borrowing from the library…
I’m just the temporary caretaker who plays a small part in it’s well traveled life. :)
You have such a great eye, what a beautiful piece!
Thanks Jilly! It’s a hard piece to miss. :) Have a great Friday and thanks so much for commenting! xo
