Dining chairs have come such a long way I’ve decided to pull together a dining chair roundup for all of you. Whether choosing a formal or casual style it seems as if there are no rules. People pair chairs and tables based on a different criteria than when I grew up. Back then it was all about buying a set. Thank goodness the rules have changed.

With most kitchen and family rooms now sharing one large open space the focus has turned to making the kitchen table and chairs reflect more of a design style and personality. Everything doesn’t have to match and actually I think it looks more interesting when it doesn’t. Whatever your lifestyle.. there is something for everyone. From the new mid-century modern style chairs to the Chippendale bamboo it seems everything is acceptable.
I have a french inspired cane back chair with a linen slipcovered skirt in my kitchen. The imperfections in the paint were a must for me as I had teenagers floating in and out and the linen covers allowed me the opportunity to have an upholstered seat that can remain clean. Pairing the chairs with a steel top table allowed me the contrast in materials I craved while adding a bit of an industrial look. The mismatched set is perfect for my family and I love the look.
Changing the look of your dining space is a simple way to update your home. It can be as easy as switching out a few chairs. With the newer fresher styles made available nowadays why not take advantage and express more of your personality with a space that’s viewed by so many. Below I’ve pulled a collection of several of the more popular dining chair styles available… I’d have one set of each if possible. ;)
