Hi everyone!
I’m so excited because today my new door knocker has arrived. This is huge for me since we’ve decided to hold off on purchasing a new door for awhile and I need something to help dress it up immediately. I recently painted my door and added a wreath… all that’s missing is a beautiful knocker.
Having grown up in the Washington DC area where knockers grace most doors, I’ve always had a thing for them and knew I would eventually have one hanging on my front door. Knockers lend that formal, elegant style I crave. An old door doesn’t look so old with a shiny new door knocker attached. From the classic to the whimsical, this tiny addition allows you the opportunity to add a little personality to your home in the simplest of ways.
Our front door is the first thing people see when walking up to our homes… why not make it look as special as possible?
Think of a door knocker like you do jewelry. It’s that little finishing piece that pulls everything together.

Below I’ve pulled together some of my favorite door knockers and door images to give you a few ideas of some of the more popular styles. No surprise a few of the doors are from London. Londoners master the art of curb appeal. It’s the one city I always make sure to block off a day to allow me to run around and spend time looking at their incredible doors, camera in hand.
With so many different themes, shapes and sizes, not to mention materials, I have to admit I had a difficult time narrowing down all of my favorite knockers to just one. You won’t be surprised to learn that in the end, a classic ring style won.
Now I just have to wait for Jeff to get home and help me hang it.

I love the shell! Around here, ( coastal Massachusetts), we tend to see many nautical designs. I have seen a horseshoe crab that I love! Our door has a screen door, wonder if a door knocker would still be ok?
I love the shell too! :)n Hugs xx
I say yes! ;)
I need to know the name of the paint used on that purple door. It’s beautiful and I can’t find anything even close.
