Simple and Neutral Christmas Mantel

Simple and Neutral Christmas Mantel

I always look forward to decorating my mantel for the holiday season. This year, I opted for a more simple and neutral Christmas mantel. I’m loving the color scheme and it’s so classically natural-looking. Green happens to be one of my favorite colors, and it’s a huge part of my holiday decor this year!

Last year’s mantel was totally different – I left out garland completely and opted for a softer palette of white, golds, and silvers. While we enjoyed it, I’m craving a fresher look with the help of the greenery. Click (HERE) for last year’s mantel.

I picked up this faux green garland this year and I’m LOVING it. I had originally planned on buying a natural cedar garland but why go there when this looks so real and it was almost the same cost.. I’ll be able to use this garland over and over again in the future. Click here to shop the faux green garland.

To spice up the simple garland, I added twinkle pinecone lights with copper wire. They are battery-run which makes it so convenient.  Plus they were only $10! Click here to shop the pinecone lights.

I love to layer garland with ornaments – big and small. They provide the perfect pop of glitter and shine that I think elevates this holiday mantel. They always stand out and shine more when the twinkle lights glare against them. You may notice that I included a few pinecones as well.. mine are dusted with glitter but you can go for a more natural look as well.

One of my favorite parts to my mantel is my new wreath. Originally it was a galvanized steel color but I knew if I touched it up with a little bit of gold and silver paint, it would give me the holiday look I was after. I wrapped twinkle lights around the back of it and also added a few shiny silver ornaments and love the effect! Click here for the wreath.

My hurricanes are a couple years old but they one of my favorite pieces because of their versatility. I use them all over my home, year-round. I found an updated hurricane that looks similar to mine, here.

A few of you have been asking me where I found the stocking holders – you can find them at stores like Hobby Lobby or Michael’s. They are simple and don’t get in the way of my decor.. I love that.

Don’t you love these german glitter houses? They are one of my favorite pieces of holiday decor.. and this year I found so many cute houses at different stores. Last year I had a little village on my mantel but this year I wanted to keep it simple with just one house. Click here for similar style houses.

On either side of the house, I placed 2 glass ornaments that remind me of snowglobes. It comes in a couple of styles and I think they look so pretty lit up at night! Click here to shop the ornaments.

Down below, I have a faux glitter tree that I have placed in an old urn I’ve had forever. The tree comes with a burlap bottom and is cute by itself as well. I filled the urn with silver ornaments and I love the way it turned out. As always, I wrapped twinkle lights up the mini-tree so at night it looks great. Click here for the faux glitter tree.

Opposite the the faux glitter tree, I have a reindeer decor piece standing under the stockings. It’s a piece that I’ve had for years and have had trouble sourcing for you all.

  1. I have the wreath and love what you did with it. Can I ask the details of what you did and what paint that you used. Thanks so much

    1. Hi Stephanie – thank you so much! I painted the wreath with a mix of gold and silver paint from Hobby Lobby. All acrylic paint. Called “metallic gold and metallic silver” Delta and Craftsmart make great paints and are only a couple dollars each!

    1. Hi Tiffany -thank you so much, I’m so glad you like it! I was definitely going for a clean look and I’m happy with the result. Happy holidays – xx

  2. Good Morning. I’d like more information about the mantel itself. We are building and we’ll have a corner gas fireplace. We’re looking for a simple, yet elegant mantel design and yours looks about perfect! Can you share any information on the build or where you may have gotten it. In advance, thank you for your time and inspiration!
