Jeff made mini baked French toast this morning, so I thought I’d bring you along. 🤍
Jeff’s Baked French Toast
Serves: 4-6
Ingredients
* 1 loaf French bread
* 1 cup brown sugar, divided
* 6 large eggs
* ¼ cup half-and-half
* ¼ cup milk
* ¼ cup Karo syrup
* 1 stick butter, melted and divided
* ½ tsp cinnamon, divided
* 1 tsp vanilla extract
* Pinch of salt
Maple Cinnamon Glaze
* ½ cup powdered sugar
* 2 tsp milk
* 2 tsp maple syrup
* 1 tsp vanilla extract
* ¼ tsp cinnamon
* Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Cut the French bread into thick slices.
2. Spray a 13 x 9-inch baking dish with baking spray. Pour half of the melted butter into the bottom of the dish and spread evenly. Reserve the remaining butter.
3. Mix ¼ cup brown sugar with ¼ tsp cinnamon and sprinkle over the butter.
4. In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth. Add the half-and-half, milk, remaining ¾ cup brown sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt.
5. Arrange the bread slices in an overlapping pattern. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, gently moving the slices so they’re all coated.
6. In a small bowl, mix the Karo syrup, remaining melted butter, remaining ¼ tsp cinnamon, and remaining ¼ cup brown sugar. Drizzle over the bread.
7. Let sit for 30 minutes (or refrigerate overnight). Bake for 35 minutes, or until golden brown.
8. While the French toast bakes, whisk together all of the glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over each serving and enjoy!

One of my favorite Venice travel tips… 🤍
We booked a canal-side table at Sempione, and our waiter knew exactly what we were hoping for. He actually ran across the bridge to film us from the other side so we could capture the boats drifting by. Such a thoughtful surprise, and one of our favorite memories from Venice.
If you’re planning a trip, I’d definitely recommend reserving a canal-side table at least once. It’s an experience you’ll remember long after the meal.
A few beautiful spots to consider:
• Sempione
• 501 Ai Barbacani
• The Gritti Terrace
• L’Alcova
• O Gio’s Restaurant & Terrace
• Terrazza Danieli 🇮🇹

Lately, life has felt beautifully ordinary… and somehow those are becoming my favorite days. 🤍
Morning walks, visiting Jeff’s mom, coffee together, watching Scarlett wave at everyone she sees, and slowing down enough to appreciate it all.
It’s funny how the simplest moments often become the ones you treasure most.

Summer evenings like this are hard to beat. 🌅
We feel so lucky to have Haven - a farm to table restaurant right here in our neighborhood. Between the farm-fresh food, golden sunset views, Friday night live music, tractor rides for the little ones, seeing the farm animals up close, and sharing a meal with family, it’s become one of our favorite ways to spend a summer evening. 🤍
