Wow!  Fourth of July is coming up SO soon.. we’re excited. What are some of your plans? Sometimes we go to our local fair and watch the fireworks/horse racing.. Other years we’ve gone to friends homes and had a blast BBQing it up. Whatever you end up doing.. make sure to dress up wearing fun spirited colors.

We like to buy outfits specifically for the holiday because everyone ends up taking pictures & we always feel comfortable in something we picked out ahead of time vs something that we threw together last minute.

I have a love affair with black & white design…
When I find myself tired of color I tend to fall back to the comforts of this classic combo. Even though black and white appear strong when placed next to one another, I find their crispness and contrast soothing. I’m not sure if it’s from my days of living in Greece as a child with marble all around or possibly my exposure to Washington DC where black and white are honored everywhere.

This summer I’m keeping things simple and clean with my newly decorated white dining room…

We’ve been in this home for 10 years now and I think in all that time I’ve gone through just about every color in the rainbow when it has come to decorating this dining room space.  It has gone from a more traditional red and green to blue with citrus greens, then black with blues as accents.

Now that I’ve painted the interior of my home in all white I’m having a field day adding layers to change the look and feel of my home.

Sometimes I simply want to keep things light, airy and monochromatic.  When this is the case I add different shades of whites and pair them with others textures to give my home that cozy fall/winter look.

This is the perfect time of year to find an assortment of texturized pieces.

I’ve been posting about white kitchens more and more lately for a number of reasons…  Not only are they my favorite look but my girlfriend is installing hers as we speak and I’ve been helping her choose the materials.  I’m loving everything she’s picking and I keep warning her that if she keeps adding all of my favorite things I’m going to have move in once everything is finished.  ;)  She wanted a clean, timeless look and so she has chosen Shaker style cabinets, a built in fridge, a long 9 ft island with gorgeous gray granite countertop, white subway tiles and a complete upscale on her appliances.
