Thank you Kristy for the beautiful pictures and for sharing your thoughts on your cruise. You opened my thoughts on cruises. I just came back from a two weeks vacation. Started iN madrid. Went to toledo, barcelona, rome, milan, venice, Back to madrid. I felt so tired between flying, taking trains and more flying. At least with a cruise We dont have to carry bags. I’ve been on cruises before but i alwats thought that i didnt get enough of the cities until i saw what you guys did. I think i would do a cruise and skip the excursions. Thank you again
Thanks so much for your sweet words! I really loved the cruise that I did because of the itinerary – we literally sailed from port to port at night & arrived at a new place every morning. So easy & convenient! The places we went to don’t require a ton of days to really know the vibe… depending on where you’re going & what you want to see if how I would base whether you should cruise or not. And how much time you have… for example, Emma and Zach had 8 days but really wanted to get to know a city so they went to Barcelona for the whole time instead of traveling a ton. :)

Kristy, so GLAD YOU ENJOYED YOUR FIRST WINDSTAR CRUISE! WE ADORE WINDSTAR, AND HAVE SAILED WITH THEM 4 TIMES ON DIFFERENT SHIPS IN THEIR FLEET. THANK YOU FOR THIS WONDERFUL SYNOPSIS OF YOUR DESTINATIONS, AS WE HAVE YET TO GET TO THIS PART OF THE WORLD.
IF YOU WANT BEAUTY AND THE CONTINUED WINDSTAR EXPERIENCE, BOOK YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS ON THE 10 DAY ITINERARY THAT IS WITH WIND SPIRIT OUT OF PAPEETE, FRENCH POLYNESIA. IT IS A RELAXING, AND EXTRAORDINARILY BEAUTIFUL CRUISE…WE LOVED IT WHEN WE CRUISED WITH THEM IN JANUARY OF THIS YEAR. FOOD AND CUSTOMER SERVICE NEVER DISAPPOINT, (I TOO HAVE A NUT ALLERGY) AND THEIR SPECIAL ISLAND ACTIVITIES ARE INCREDIBLE!!!
CARRY ON CRUISING!! ALL THE BEST
Kristy,
We too took our first Windstar cruise this summer on the Wind Surf. Our itinerary was in reverse, starting in rome. it was the most relaxing vacation, even with a port a day, since it was August, the waterports platform was out every day and made for a great afternoon dip after walking around the villages. We also traveled with close friends and found that sitting at the Compass rose on deck was perfect. thank you for all your insights and beautiful pictures. We can’t wait to go again, maybe next time Venice to rome.
What a wonderful post with beautiful pics! We are going on the same cruise next month & this makes me even more excited- did you book any excursion through windstar or did you do this via taxi when you got to the ports? Was It easy to get transportation?
