I have a love affair with black & white design…
When I find myself tired of color I tend to fall back to the comforts of this classic combo. Even though black and white appear strong when placed next to one another, I find their crispness and contrast soothing. I’m not sure if it’s from my days of living in Greece as a child with marble all around or possibly my exposure to Washington DC where black and white are honored everywhere. This mix has an elegant, timeless feel that once placed together in architecture or home design… everything simply feels right.
The new black framed window trend is one of my current favorites. Windows look stately and impactful without appearing heavy. All design styles mix well with this look as a result…

Black and white kitchens are all the rage. In every style, traditional or modern it’s a combination that works for all. Not every color can work this way nor have that same gourmet look and feel that this popular duo provides.

This black and white home from Ike Kligerman Barkley is a top pin on Pinterest. The dark facade contrasts so beautifully with everything around it I can understand why. It’s always been a favorite of mine.

Black doors have become trendy but when gracing the front of a white home.. the effect is incredibly rich.
The door grounds the exterior and draws attention in an elegant understated manner.

Bathrooms with a black and white theme have been around forever. The mix of the two adds a bit of sophistication that white can’t do alone. Now with new patterned tiles it’s becoming more popular than ever.

Loved this ☝? ?? the sophistication of the two colors is at par. Each of it in its own is so classic and when paired together, it makes everything timeless. That’s what I love about it. Even though I love colors..My favorite combo of all times is black and white and shades of grey!
There is nothing like it! Thanks Priyanka :) xx
Hi Kristy ..
I LOVE black and white too .. our house is historic (1872), we’ve been renovating it room by room since we bought it about five years ago. The kitchen is gutted at the moment. ? The house was a deep grey blue when we bought it and it reminded me of thunderstorm color so last year we painted it white with black shutters and the tall arches front doors are black. All of the walls are BM Chantilly Lace downstairs so far except the library which is black. We’re doing all of the renovations ourselves, so it seems to go so slow .. so I love following your adventures with your lovely house. Every room that’s completed is like a celebration! xx
How exciting Sandy! Wow…To live in a historic house must be so incredible. Congratulations on all the work you’ve done! I’ll have to take a look at your gallery. Hugs and thanks so much for sharing! xx
I Love black and white as well. These are great pictures, so beautiful and showcase the trend perfectly. I tend to stay away from too much white but I have really been loving it as of late and can’t seem to get enough. I love your bolg and style. So many great ideas.
Thank you,
Brandy
