Santa Barbara Little Glass House Tour

So excited to share my dear friend’s Santa Barbara Little Glass House Tour with all of you… Falling into the California life can be a magical thing for those of us who grow up on the East coast.  Take it from me, a Washington DC transplant… I’ve recently become friends with the sweetest designer who fell into the California life a little like I did.  Elizabeth Burns of edb designs and her husband made the leap once they dropped their daughter off at college.  One criteria they had was that their home look and feel very different than the one they previously owned.

After nine months of searching they found this 1950’s ranch style home in the Mission Canyon foothills that had been converted into a mid-century modern by San Francisco architect Nick Noyes. Just under 1900 sq ft. this beautiful home looks and feels much larger because of the glass and high ceilings surrounding all.

This home is perfect for Elizabeth as she loves all that’s organic and natural. With the lush beautiful surroundings and all the natural light provided by the mass amount of windows and 12 ft ceilings… Elizabeth says she feels as if she’s on a continual vacation when there and misses it terribly when gone.
I can’t blame her!

Favorite breakfast joint – Jeannine’s

Favorite restaurant for Dinner – Lucky’s

Favorite spot for Sunset – Butterfly Beach

I’d love to thank Elizabeth for sharing all of her beautiful photos with me and my readers. Santa Barbara is one of the most unusual cities in the world offering so much for a city of it’s size. With the gorgeous beach life, homes that are both luxurious as well as understated right next to one another, the ‘city of the Angels’, Los Angeles, just a stone’s throw away and the wine country just over the hill with ranch life all around… you can’t help but envy those who live there.

  1. Thank you Kristy for featuring our home on your beautiful blog. You have long been someone I have read and it was wonderful to finally “meet” on Instagram. I look forward to us meeting in person one day and for you to stop by and share a glass of wine at The Little Glass House! :) xx Elizabeth

    1. You are soooo welcome Elizabeth! Thanks so much for letting me share your beautiful life and home. I’ve loved getting to know you… I think we could talk for hours. ;) Hugs and raise a glass for me while you’re sitting outside by the fire-pit!

    1. So pretty and sweet Sue. Elizabeth and I were just talking about how we love all styles and this is so ‘me’ right now. Relaxed and comfy. I don’t need as much as I used to have… Hugs! xo

  2. Love this post!! What a gorgeous home! I went to college in Santa Barbara and met my husband (a professor at the time). We have relocated to the East Coast, but it’s so nice to have a little nostalgia over a place that is near and dear to our hearts!! Oh and we loved Lucky’s restaurant and Butterfly beach too ?

    1. Thanks For commenting Amy! I moved to SB right after college when I was 22 and loved living there. Hey, come to think of it I also dated a Professor from UCSB. ;) So funny! I love the East Coast too so I’m sure you both are having a ball. I miss the beaches believe it or not. So much fun body surfing in warmer water and collecting all the shells? So great. Hugs and have a great Thursday! xo

    1. So true Rebekah! It feels approachable for all too. One of the greatest things about this town is it’s down to earth feel. When I lived there and worked at UCSB I’d run across someone in a straw hat and flip flops having lunch with someone dressed preppy in Brooks Brothers… both with loads of money. ;) Very chill place. Hugs! xoxo

    1. It really is guys! Check out the added night shots around the firepit Elizabeth sent me last night… So pretty! Love her outlook on life and I swear we could be sisters with how we think. Hugs to you both. Wish I was able to see you tomorrow. Don’t give up on me! Hey, I’m head to Allen Smith’s Garden 2 Grow week in May. I’ll be in Arkansas if either of you are around Moss Mountain. xoxo

  3. I visited Santa Barbara and it is a beautiful spot! Wished we could have stayed longer! This home is amazing! Loved it all! Thanks for sharing! How lucky you are going to Moss Mountain.
