DIY Art using Wallpaper

I’m so excited to share my DIY art using wallpaper with all of you today… I began this new project inspired by talented blogger, Kristin Jackson from the popular blog, Hunted Interior. I saw the incredible art she made for a kitchen nook featured in Domino Magazine with a Laura Ashley wallpaper and I immediately fell in love.

I am such a fan of anything bird and floral related and when you add the two with a soft blue background… I’m all over it.  Framing wallpaper has been popular for years but the way Kristin completed this project took it to a different level altogether.  It’s so beautiful and glamorous you’d think it was expensive art.  I love the gold frame surrounding the pastel print.  Following Kristin’s lead I ordered the same roll from Laura Ashley which arrived today.  So excited!

Not feeling as ambitious and adventurous as Kristin I’ve decided to run out and look at different styles and colors of ready made frames instead of making one myself…  ;)

I can’t wait to see how this design looks in my home once finished… With my white walls and similar colors, I think it’s going to be amazing.  I’ve been wanting to do this for such a long time and now that Laura Ashley has a sale on this Summer Palace wallpaper I’ve decided to jump on it.  The entire project shouldn’t cost more than $45 – $75 depending on the frame chosen.

Some of my favorite places to find ready made frames are – Target, Wayfair, Aaron Brothers, IKEA, Etsy and Pottery Barn.  So many great styles, colors and sizes to choose from. The best thing about this project is you can cut the wallpaper down to fit whatever size frame you need to make it your own.

I’ll show more of this completed art project when I’m done but in the meantime check out exactly how Kristin completed her project here.    Also, I’ve included more feminine Laura Ashley products for you to shop below…

Have a great day! xo

  1. I too love a bird and floral print! And the colors in this one are stunning! My bedding is floral and I actually thought the design included birds when I ordered it. Turns out it doesn’t, but I love it anyway. Can’t wait to see your finished project.
